Wyo Wild Ride Ranch Rodeo Returning

Join us in Gillette, Wyoming, June 23-25 for the third annual Wyo Wild Ride Ranch Rodeo & Horse Sale. The event this year will include a barrel racing jackpot, team roping jackpot, women’s steer stopping, and WSRRA bronc riding. And that’s just Friday!

The Western State Ranch Rodeo Association-sanctioned open and women’s ranch rodeos will be Saturday, with a horse sale to follow. Up to 25 quality horses will be offered for sale and must be featured in the ranch rodeo. To consign a horse, contact Tiffany Schwenke, of North Four Mile Creek, at 307-670-7037. Ranch Rodeo entries will be accepted starting at 8 a.m. March 1.

A youth rodeo is slated for Sunday.

A smattering of fine horses and top hands flock to Gillette, Wyoming for the annual Wyo Wild Ride Ranch Rodeo and Horse Sale. Up to 25 of the horses are featured in the horse sale, and those consigned horses must compete in the ranch rodeo.

The Ranch Rodeo has featured open and women’s teams for the past two years, and will this year as well.

Wacey Kirkpatrick exhibits the bridle horse, a sight typically seen at Wyo Wild Ride. Western States Ranch Rodeo Association features more buckaroo-style events, including branding in which calves are headed then heeled.

Justin Quint, of Wheatland, Wyoming, was the winner of last year’s Wyo Wild Ride Ranch Rodeo and 2016 Western States Ranch Rodeo Association Finals Bronc Riding.

This palomino horse was awarded top horse by anonymous judges in 2016 and was offered for sale in the horse sale on Sunday. The sale is moved to Saturday, June 25, this year, after the ranch rodeo.

The kiddos aren’t overlooked; they are offered the chance to climb aboard the wooliest sheep in the county. A youth rodeo will be offered on Sunday, June 25.
