The Third Ride

I thought I’d start sharing some videos I took this past winter, when I started one of my colts. I’ve since sold this colt – he’s gone on to a very handy, West River Cowboy. He’d had him a couple weeks, rode him maybe once, and went and roped and doctored a yearling bull on him. I’ll have a full sibling born to him this coming May. Needless to say, I’m pretty excited about having another one just like him!
A couple things to note about the video (this is the third colt I’ve started in my best imitation of the Ray Hunt/Buck Brannaman method).
1. I do not have impeccable timing, but I’m working on it.
2. Note when I ask for direction changes, and how I try to always make sure that when I disengage his hips the inside hind steps fully under the outside.
