There is a familiar sound coming out of the speakers these days. Something about it is different, but something is also very familiar. Ned LeDoux has been pursuing his dream in the music business and making people do a double take. The family resemblance is strong in many ways between Ned LeDoux and his father Chris LeDoux.
It’s a rare and awesome to find A Real Cowboy Singing Country Music, so it is quite amazing to have two of them in the same family!
When I was little, the exciting thing was to get a new Chris LeDoux tape! Then we would listen to them for hours, days, and months on end. We knew every word to every song. They were songs about our lifestyle and we related to them all. Chris LeDoux was a Real Cowboy Singing Country Music. Now Ned LeDoux is following in his father’s footsteps as a Real Cowboy Singing Country Music. As it says in the bio on nedledoux.com “In country music, a last name like LeDoux casts a big, storied and bittersweet shadow, but it’s one Ned LeDoux doesn’t mind standing in one bit. Having been a drummer in his dad Chris’ band, Western Underground since 1998, Ned knew from an early age that he had “no plan b” but to play music, “Once I got the taste of the road, and being in front of a crowd and just the sound of it, it was…freedom.'”
Ned LeDoux was blessed to grow up on a ranch near Kaycee, Wyoming and I recently asked him what that was like…
ND: “Kaycee, Wyoming has a special charm about it. Proud to call it home. I am very thankful to have grown up on a ranch. Learning the value of hard work and the rewards that come from it. My Grandad was the one who showed me how to build fence, work cows and do a little hayin. My mom and dad are my heroes. Simple as that.”
CS: Please tell us about your family and where you are living these days…
ND: “My wife and I have been married for 10 years this May. I’m a lucky man. We have 2 beautiful kiddos. Bronson 7 and Haven 6 months. We now live in northeast Kansas. I still do a little ranch work when we’re back at Mom’s. But music has always been the dream. I’m very very grateful to be able to live that dream.”
Ned LeDoux does a great job covering one of my all time favorite songs, You Just Can’t See Him From The Road! With lyrics like these, this song is the definition of a Real Cowboy Singing Country Music!
“Ned’s personal favorite song to sing is one called “You Can’t Tell Me We Ain’t Got It All.” It’s the first original song Ned co-wrote with his dad and seems to pick up right where Chris left off. Thankfully there is more to come as there is a new voice to carry on the LeDoux sound.” Quote from nedledoux.com
I am super excited to watch Ned LeDoux, along with Tris Munsick, and Corb Lund in Kaycee, WY on June 16th at Chris LeDoux Days!! There is nothing better than a good ol’ street dance in Kaycee, WY!
I think I better take my copy of Chris LeDoux’s book Gold Buckle Dreams, that Chris signed for me back in 1986 and have Ned sign it too!
