There is something so spectacular in the controlled power that the Powder River Percherons display when hitched up. Mike and Julie Cushman of Glenrock, WY with their Powder River Percherons are a sight to see.

I recently asked them a few questions.
CS: Please tell us about how you got started with your Powder River Percherons and how it has developed over the years.
PP: We bought our first team of Percherons in 2002 to feed with and give wagon rides.
We started pulling the Wyoming State Fair wagon in the Wyoming State Fair Parade and that turned into promoting the State Fair throughout Wyoming.
The wagon is so heavy that we thought we should get another team to help pull it using a four horse hitch. Which then turned into six or more.

CS: What has been your favorite event to take them to?
PP: It’s hard to choose which is our favorite. Chris Ledoux Days is always a favorite and so is the Cody Stampede over the 4th of July. National Western Stock Show Parade is fun also due to the sheer number of spectators, last year estimate was at 140,000.

CS: Where can people see you with them at upcoming events?
PP: I’m sure we’ll be at the those mentioned above and Don King Days. We won’t know our full schedule until it gets closer to summer.

PC – Krystie Wood, on her wedding day.
CS: Will you have any teamster clinics this year?
PP: We will probably have some clinics in the spring but not sure when yet. Dates to still be determined but we will be posted on our Facebook page when scheduled.
