ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. – After a week of competition that featured more than 1,500 contestants from all across the United States, Canada and Australia, the 2014 National High School Finals Rodeo National Champions were crowned on Saturday night at the Sweetwater Events Complex.
The top 20 contestants based on their two-head average times and scores advanced to the short round on Saturday night, where they competed in front of a packed house and cameras from RFD-TV’s Cinch Highschool Rodeo Tour. National Champions were determined by their three-head average scores and earned awards that included college scholarships, custom Gist Silversmiths buckles, Tod Slone saddles, as well as products from Cinch Jeans and Shirts, Ariat Boots, Resistol Hats, Professional’s Choice and more.
All-Around Cowboy: Marcus Theriot, Poplarville, Miss., 1,810 points
All-Around Cowgirl: Mia Manzanares, Opelousas, La., 1,000 points
NHSRA Queen: Taylor Spears, Cleveland, Okla., 659.50 points
Team Champions: Oklahoma, 8,461 points
Bareback Riding: Logan Berg, Mandan, N.D., 216 points on three
Barrel Racing: Lindsey McLeod, Whitesboro, Texas, 51.719 seconds on three
Breakaway Roping: MiKayla Harrison, Elk City, Okla., 8.75 seconds on three
Bull Riding: Bobby Vaughan, Dorris, Calif., 160 points on two
Girls Cutting: Sadee Smith, Star, Idaho, 439.5 points on three
Boys Cutting: Samray Hooper, Andrews, Texas, 443.5 points on three
Goat Tying: Mia Manzanares, Opelousas, La., 23.35 seconds on three
Pole Bending: Lily Tillery, Visalia, Calif., 60.593 seconds on three
Saddle Bronc Riding: Sam Terry, Nebo, Queensland, Aus., 187 points on three
Steer Wrestling: Tristan Martin, Sulphur, La., 16.1 seconds on three
Team Roping: Tyler Milligan, Pawhuksa, Okla., Brady Norman, Springer, Okla., 20.91 seconds on three
Tie-Down Roping: Cooper Martin, Alma, Kan., 26.12 seconds on three
All-Around Rookie Cowboy: Tanner Green, Cotulla, Texas, 590 points
All-Around Rookie Cowgirl: Karson Bradley, Big Piney, Wyo., 450 points
