The spring of 2016, Hollywoods Bandit was finally two years old. Now he was old enough to start putting an few rides on.

My husband Mark riding Bandit for one of his first rides.

After about 3 rides we had another hitch thrown in… Bandit impaled himself with an upright brace of a gate. He reared over a metal gate and the horizontal bar bent down and the upright brace stabbed up in Bandit’s chest right between his front legs where the cinch goes. It was obvious that Bandit was going to have to have a long time to heal. It ended up taking around 8 months to heal completely.

Now that Bandit is all healed up we have started riding him again! He is a stud prospect to replace his daddy some day. I am so happy to be riding him around other horses and see that he is a total gentleman about it all. He truly has a respectable disposition and a willing attitude.

A few days ago, as the sun was setting I pulled up to our mailbox. Chris LeDoux’s Song of Wyoming was playing. I got the mail and found an AQHA form in it for me. I open it to find that my dad had put Bandit in my name. I cried for quite awhile… big, happy tears. I had no idea and it just means so much to me. I have loved this horse from the beginning.

I was always excited about Bandit, but now it means even more to do a good job with him like I promised his momma on the day he was born.
