I recently wrote about riding with Joe Wolter and all that I have gained in my time riding with him. If you are interested in riding with Joe, he and his wife are hosting an intimate clinic at their summer place near Ballantine, Montana Oct. 8 and 9.
They are accepting 10 riders and will focus on horsemanship and cow-working. They encourage taking two horses, if that would be better for your horses. The cost is $550 and includes a ranch-style lunch each day with camping and RV hook-ups available. Pens are available for horses, but riders must bring their own hay, grain, and buckets.
After this clinic, Joe and Jimmie will head to their winter country in Aspermont, Texas. I would recommend for anyone at any horsemanship level to ride with Joe. He is one of the finest horseman and has a wonderful talent of working with multiple people on varying levels depending on where they need to work with their horses.
Joe worked with Tom and Bill Dorrance and Ray Hunt when they were alive and is continually an avid student of horsemanship. He has always had an answer to any questions asked of him yet admits to having a lot of learning left of his own. Joe is relatable and friendly yet still a spectacular teacher.
Visit Joe and Jimmie’s website www.JoeWolter.com to learn more about the clinic or who Joe and Jimmie are. You may also follow Joe on Facebook to see a newsfeed stocked with articles, stories, and videos answering thought-provoking questions.
Bill Dorrance said this of Joe, “There’s a lot to learn from a horse and a lot to learn from Joe Wolter about horses, horsemanship and the fundamentals of ranch roping. People from beginning through advanced skill levels will benefit from Joe’s clinics.“
