Christmas On the Ranch

Posted in: Ranch Life

I, like many of you, love Christmas.  The Holiday Season is made extra special by all the decorations on the tree- because I try to treat my life like Christmas and give back whenever possible.

While many of the ornaments have no sentimental value, simply because I like a uniform tree, there are a few that do. I’m kind of a freak about matching, and color schemes and such. I might even be a decorating buzz kill for some! But I think that’s what’s fun about decorating – your individuality can stand out! Our tree is full of western goodies – stars, crosses, saddles, barrel racers, and metal, western themed ornaments.

I thought it might be fun to take look inside our home at how we, er, I decorate – if for no other reason than to provide some inspiration. I typically decorate the day after Thanksgiving. I turn on the Christmas Music or put in a Christmas Movie, disassemble and then reassemble the house, so as to bask in the golden glow of lights.

I made the pheasant feather ornaments that adorn the tree. I should make some more. Actually there were originally three, and someone bought one from me!  I like to buy ornaments in odd numbers of 3, 5, 7 or 13.

Our niece made this ornament – in honor of The Cowboy’s Father – Who died two years ago the 17th of December. He was a good man.

How do you decorate your house for Christmas? Is it all matchy- matchy like mine, or do you take all the vintage ornaments you’ve been given/collected/gathered over the years for an eclectic feel?

Happy Trails!
