When a person thinks of a bronc rider, they generally imagine a tough looking man who looks a little rough around the edges. A beautiful young lady bronc rider like Brittany Miller is definitely a surprise behind the chutes. Having nodded her head on almost 200 head of broncs to date, I’d say Brittany Miller has shown a lot of try, grit, and determination. She has earned her title of #buckinghorsegal!

CS: Please give us a little back ground on how you got started riding ranch broncs…

BM: I rode my first bronc in September of 2013 at a memorial rodeo in Rigby, ID. Rode her for 80 points and first place. I didn’t even think about what I was doing, I simply packed up some gear and drove. I’ve always kinda thought maybe one day this would happen, but I never expected to change my life so drastically. That first bronc fueled some kind of fire I’ve always had but never felt.

Brittany Miller has had her fair share of injuries from riding rank broncs.

CS: How has your bronc riding progressed over the years and how many broncs have you ridden to date?

BM: My bronc riding has progressed slowly over the last four years. When you cowboy for a living its difficult to take weekends off. Changing jobs and chasing rodeo makes for a gypsy lifestyle.

To this date, 3-25-18, I have been on/ridden/bucked off 189 head of bucking horses.

I compete in a Women’s Ranch Bronc Riding Tour within the Texas Bronc Riders Association. This is the second year they’re putting on a tour. I am the 2017 year end champion for the first all ladies ranch bronc riding event. I am competing again in the TBRA Ladies Ranch Bronc Tour this year.

CS: Is there a favorite memory/ride/win that sticks out for any reason?

BM: My favorite bronc ride is probably from Miles City Bucking Horse Sale in 2016. Its such a huge and historical rodeo. The crowd is absolutely amazing. Miles City rodeo- its my favorite because I rode my bronc for 7.5 seconds. So, so close to covering at a rodeo that’s been on my bucket list for a long time! Especially because I’ve never rode there before.

CS: What inspires you to keep going?

BM: It doesn’t take a lot to inspire me to keep going. The goals I have set for myself have been enough along with the passion I have for bucking horses. If I ever think about quitting, I really just can’t. Its not in me.

I think this song by Kurt Corsair says it best…

Not only is Brittany Miller a dedicated bronc rider, she is also a handy day working cowgirl. Brittany has worked round on ranches and feedlots throughout Montana, Oregon, Nebraska, and Colorado. From having close calls with bears in the mountains to riding pens, Brittany Miller has experienced a lot through her commitment to cowboy for a living.

A couple years ago I even talked Brittany Miller into roping with a few other friends and myself on a ranch rodeo team! We had tons fun! Check out this video of us in the team branding event!

So the next time you think of a bronc rider and day working cowboy, you might have a new refreshing image of a girl with a lot of grit, try, determination, a big smile, and long blonde hair!
