A Difference of Opinion

I spent five idyllic summers as a young adult, as a polo groom. My responsibilities included keeping the horses fit and the tack clean and tidy. On match days, every horses’ tail is tied up, just so. Every buckle fastened neatly, not loose ends, every keeper and billet utilized.

While I cared for my beloved ponies, my future husband was chasing cattle up and down the mountains of Wyoming and Montana. Though he is not currently chasing wily cattle through the timber, his devil-may-care attitude regarding his tack has not changed.  I caught a picture of our mare Missy, after a long morning of doctoring yearlings.  Don’t be like my husband, use your keepers.

Poor tired "Missy," isn't living up to her name, Marvelous Miss Olena. It's hard to be marvelous with with all those loose ends!
